Alaska WorkSource runs on the community it serves. Every participant who trains here and lands a job gets there with the help of people who gave something — a skill, an hour, a connection, a donation. Whatever you have to offer, there's a place for it, and the result is always the same: one more Alaskan working.

Teach & Mentor
If you've spent years mastering a skill someone could earn a living with, you're qualified to do some of the most satisfying work there is: teaching it. Volunteer trainers and mentors work directly with participants learning a trade — and when your student clocks in on their first day, your skills go to work twice. What you know doesn't retire when you do. It can carry forward through every person you teach.

Some of the most valuable help costs nothing but a conversation. Advocates connect the program to the community around it — introducing us to employers, vouching for participants, and speaking up for second chances in the rooms where you already have a seat. Every door that opens this way is one a participant doesn't have to knock on cold, and every success that follows makes this a stronger place to live, work, and raise a family.
